Centering Prayer and Lectio Divina (Weekly)

We gather each week and begin with Centering Prayer, a receptive method of silent prayer that opens us and prepares us to experience God’s presence and transforming love within us. Following this Christ-centered form of meditation, we embrace the ancient art of praying the Scriptures known as Lectio Divina. In Lectio Divina, we listen with the “ear of the heart” with the aim of nourishing and deepening our relationship with the Holy One. Both beginners and experienced practitioners will find this time supportive and deepening.

Drop ins welcome. During the Shelter-In-Place order, we will meet through an online format called ZOOM. If you would like to attend, please email dale@journeycenter.org to receive the link.

No fee.

The Journey Center Association (JCA) is a nonprofit organization established because of the growing interest in what God has been doing through the Journey Center in Santa Rosa, CA. It is our mission to enter into discernment with and provide practical resources to those individuals and groups who are sensing that the Spirit is inviting them to explore the possibility of birthing a Journey Center, or something like it, in their city or region.

Dale Webb is a Spiritual Director currently serving on the Board of Directors of the Journey Center Association. Prior to affiliating with the Journey Center, he served as a pastor in congregational ministries and as a spiritual care chaplain in healthcare and hospice settings. He traces his current passion for contemplative spirituality to seeds planted at seminary while in preparation for ministry. Many years later, these very same seeds would come to life through the Spiritual Direction Formation Program at the Journey Center Santa Rosa. Since completing formation training, Dale has continued in the community of spiritual directors. He offers individual and group spiritual direction, facilitates contemplative prayer groups and assists with other contemplative offerings. On a personal note, Dale is an avid reader, embraces a regular practice of centering prayer, and enjoys nearly all genres of music. He is drawn to celebrate with gratitude the beauty and wonder of creation, which could be from behind the lens of a camera, on a motorcycle ride through the vineyards, or on a quiet walk in solitude along an ocean-side cliff or on a redwood forest floor.
